Port of Lobito refurbishment and expansion

The second largest cargo port in Angola
  • Description
  • The Port of Lobito is the second largest cargo port of Angola. It is located in a geographically privileged area of enormous potential. A1V2’s intervention in this project was part of a wider infrastructure recovery plan that encompasses the refurbishment of the current Port of Lobito.
  •
  • This intervention covered the following areas: paving; quay walls refurbishing; container yard capacity increase; construction of an exclusive access for heavy road transportation with a new bridge over the Cuculas River, in order to keep the heavy traffic away from Lobito city centre.
  •
  • This project also aimed to expand the Port of Lobito through the implementation of a new quay wall with a length of 314 m supported by metallic piles. A1V2’s intervention made it possible for the Port of Lobito to harbour vessels with draught up to 15.2 m.
